FormIt Pro is an intuitive sketching tool for the conceptual design phase. With site context, solar impact, and whole building energy analysis, you can make informed design decisions anywhere, anytime, and early in your design process.

What is energy analysis?

Energy analysis is the most common method for evaluating energy conversion systems. It is based on the first law of the thermodynamics that is expression of conversion of the energy. This analysis makes an energy balance for any energy conversion system and usage of the energy source while losses can be determined.

How much power does an office building use?

According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the average number of kilowatt hours per square foot for a commercial building is approximately 22.5. Here's the breakdown of how that energy is used: Approximately 8 kWh/square foot are consumed by refrigeration & equipment.

  6. Segment Your Data.
  7. View Data in the Right Time Frames.
  8. Spot the Right Patterns.

Is FormIt better than SketchUp?

Both programs perfectly cope with design tasks and have professional tools for creating 3D models. However, FormIt surpasses its rival in the SketchUp vs FormIt battle if we talk about the number of tools. Moreover, it is available as a free web browser and an app for iPad.

Is FormIt a BIM?

Conceptual BIM with Revit FormIt supports iteration with Revit® to connect your design concepts to BIM without remodeling.

Is SketchUp still relevant?

Many professionals use SketchUp, and programs like it. 3D modeling and design have a huge market now when it comes to creating a multitude of objects for 3D printing.

hi guys your bin guys I'm here today with another new review tutorial now in our today's tutorial we're gonna focus on two energy analysis using Autodesk Revit platform plus you'll see the collaboration between Autodesk Revit and Autodesk inside which is an cloud base analysis engine which will enables you to go through three sophisticated energy analysis now let's get into this so in order to start being the energy analysis as you can see we do have the demo model that's we gonna work in so this is our demo model that we're gonna work on it so you can just like simply open up your model as you can see it's a very simple model that we're gonna work on it so the very first important stuff that we all need to make sure that is everything is all good but this model is to have an Autodesk seeded account so in order to make sure that a we'll have the student account if you do use an Student Alliance so you can just simply go there and just signing into your Autodesk a 360 point but if you're not having vehicons you just like me to simply reach out to this website which is the Autodesk website as you can see here if you just like simply Google that off you'll see that how simple it is and you just like me to reach out to your desk education community webpage and just like fill up your information and subscribe for that so as you can see you can just simply reach out to the website here up there you can see create account so you need to just simply click on it then down there you just like need to fill up your information make sure to agree to the privacy and deterrence and simply click on create account then you will receive an email just like reach out to the email and simply click on it to make sure that your account is getting activated once this whole process is done basically you get to have an Autodesk account so then you just we go to the Autodesk Revit main page here open up the model and simply pick up there on signing so once you click up there you can just simply click on sign in to the Autodesk a 360 need to put onto your username there you go get your password as well all right as you can see your status is getting changed here to your name this means that right now you are signing as an autodesk user which will enables you to reach out to the all to this inside which will enables you to you be whole energy analysis them alright so now since we are all fine to start with this there are some sort of very important factors in these energy analysis that you guys need to know much all I'm gonna just simply walk you through this so basically the most important part of the energy analysis is to know what is the R values which is the thermal resistance plus the heat transfer coefficient which is U which there are somehow a reversely relation or relational so basically you need to know that how set up your model initially in a way that has the best and preferred rates that are recommended by your code so here are just like I wanna show you guys a quick picture of what I got from the code that it has recommended to have this sort of thermal resistance exactly assigned to our elements so our important elements that I'm gonna walk you through them and make sure that you guys are all gonna be good but then we initially gonna set them all up and then later on we'll go to the optimization process so as you can see we do have exterior walls we do have interior walls floors roof windows and doors so that is like what is suggested through the code I highly recommend you guys to try to implement the same sort of resistance or like thermal resistance on your model if you can as much as like the model just like let you to do that but if you wouldn't be able to exactly do the same you can do that like partially so partially you try to assign this thermal resistances and also at the same time you just like with the rest of them you just like stick with what is block on the default version so now to show you guys that how we basically can see all these sort of thermal resistances or heat transfer coefficient which is all the same we can either see that or this one right and then later on I'll just like walk you through each and every single element to see that how we would be able to adjust them and make sure that they are all compatible so if you want to see the whole page that basically simply demonstrate the whole parameters you just like simply can go through the analysis tab up there and then there you go on energy setting so if I simply click on energy setting you just like scroll down till you find on advanced then next to the other options you simply click on edit you go just like simply down and here on schematic types you can simply click on building there you go but this main page so as you can see here we do have roofs exterior walls interior walls ceilings floors slab doors windows and skylights so part of them are just like simply set up as the default version the other half is basically exactly adopted on our own model as you can see as an example here we do have the exterior wall so as you can see the type of the exterior wall is 8-inch lightweight CMU but the insulation that basically enables us to have the heat transfer coefficient up to point 38 so that is something which if you do remember was sort of recommended by the code because into the code was recommended to have the exterior walls to basically have the thermal resistance between starting from 13 up to 20 or 25 so if you have let's say somewhere around like or 11 it's almost like close to the range that we want to have at least as an initial setup so just like giving you an example that how you're supposed to set up everything initially in an way that basically fits the best right to what we seeking for and then later on once we go through people analysis Rivet will give you all the optimization options that which one would be working the best for you so don't worry for that I'm just like showing you an basically giving you a tool that how they sort of parameters or working in Revit and why is super essentially unimportant to basically pay attention to that now let's take the first step I simply just gonna click on OK and ok start from scratch to show you guys that what are the most important steps to basically run your energy analysis so the very first one is to simply set up your location so what I'm gonna do here is to go through the location of Bayer from the analysis tab so you simply go there on location you click there and on vacation you can just simply type down your location once you click on search then those sort of available stations are simply getting popped up click on one of them and as you can see those are the stations of the orluk veter stations that you can go but this is the most closest one to the montreal pile and so I'm simply gonna get stick with to this and simply click on ok so as you can see this is the station the Vetter station that we were working with it and this is the basically the main station on Montreal that we're working with it so simply gonna click on OK as as easy as you can see the location is all set now what is important is to b
