with the place arc tool you can create circular arcs you can find the place arc tool on the home ribbon tab in the placement ribbon group arcs can be placed clockwise or counterclockwise and there are several methods to be used for constructing the arc in this lesson you will learn place arc continuing in learning.dgn in the accudraw model we'll be creating a series of arcs using a few different methods to create the first figure start by placing the 30 unit horizontal line using place smartline make sure the keypoint snap is set as the active snap mode press reset to continue next we'll place a 30 unit vertical line with key point snap active move the cursor point over the midpoint of the line and press o the accudraw compass appears at the center point of the line move up the y-axis staying indexed to the axis enter 15 in the accudraw's y field enter a data point to start the vertical line move down the y axis and press enter to lock to the axis next type 30 to define the end of the vertical line press reset the two lines are now in a cross formation let's move on to placing arcs first we'll place the arc using the start middle and in method select place arc and in the tool settings window select the method as start mid hind and all other options should be disabled define the start point by snapping to the top of the end of the cross next snap to the left end of the horizontal line this sets the midpoint or middle of the arc finally select the right end of the horizontal line to complete the arc note that the middle point of the arc placement does not have to be halfway between the start and end points for our second arc we need another line string with two segments 30 units long in each direction using place smartline build this to the right of the previous one this time we'll place the arc using the start center method this method will work in conjunction with preset values as part of the settings in the tool settings window select place arc and set the following tool settings method start center radius enabled and the value set to 30 units length disabled start angle enabled and the value set to 270 degrees sweep angle enabled and the value set to 90 degrees direction enabled and the direction set to ccw for counter-clockwise the arc is now fully defined so we can place it by snapping with a single data point to the lower left end of the horizontal line press reset we'll place another arc using the start middle and end using the same line string to snap to in the tool options window set the method to start mid end and disable all other tool options snap and data point to the three vertices of the line string for the final arc in this exercise we'll need another line string 30 units on the side we create the arc by using the method start center this time however disabling all other options snap and data point to the upper left end of the line as the start point snap and data point to the right end of the line string segment to set the center point and finally snap and data point to the bottom end of the line string as you can see using just two of the many arc placement methods can result in different results depending on the other tool options in this exercise you learned how to place an arc using a few of the many methods for placement if you found this video helpful please give it a like if you want to see more such series consider subscribing to our channel thank you and see you next time

MicroStation essentials place circle and place arc circles and arts are very important in a drawing system and circles can be drawn in several different ways you can also fill a circle with a solid color in addition arcs can also be drawn several different ways you can also draw arcs clockwise or counterclockwise circles are found on the drawing task as well you'll find the place circle command in the arcs toolbox here is the slay circle command and replace ellipse command which is related and the place arc command let's take a look at play circle so like any other MicroStation element type we pick the tool change our attributes check our tool settings read our prompt let's take a look at the tool settings of the play circle command do you have methods here such as centre that means you were going to identify the center point of the circle and then you're going to define the radius you also have the method by edge we identify one point on the circle the second point on the circle and then the third point on the circle the third method is by diameter were you after the first point on the dynamometer and then the second point on the diameter in addition you can draw your circles with a solid opaque color in this case it's black depending on which color you choose from the fill color type you can have circles of different colors of course line style and line weight also apply here so if you wanted a circle with specific type of line style that's easy enough to do you simply choose a line style of interest and your circles are drawn with that line style finally you can key in a diameter so that all circles are drawn with the same diameter this way you can just start to identify center points and a direction basically that way you can create uniform circles the arcs command also allows for many different options you can choose to draw an arc by choosing a start point at center point and then the sweep angle so start point center point and then sweep angle you can go counter clockwise or anti-clockwise or you can go clockwise another method of drawing the arc is to choose the center point then the start point then the sweep angle so start Center sweep or Center start sweep either way in addition you can choose the start point the midpoint and then the end point finally you can do the start point the end point and then the midpoint so start point and point and then the midpoint the Ark also provides additional tool options you can use a fixed radius arc if you want to here you can see we're doing the start point endpoint midpoint a fixed radius you can also do a fixed length arc so you pick the start point and there's if you go outside the boundaries of that length you get a red X telling you you've violated or have an invalid location you can also define a start angle and a sweep angle there's also direction here by the way you can also force a direction to be clockwise or counterclockwise if you'd notice without any of these options set it's now showing as o'clock counterclockwise if I go this way it'll allow me to go clockwise and it switches over once it realizes that you're going the opposite direction but you can force it to go in a specific direction if you want to so arcs very powerful a lot of different ways of creating them you can do all sorts of modification to are obtained two circles once they've been created we can look at that in a future session so to review circles can be drawn several different ways they can be filled or left unfilled arcs can also be drawn in several different ways and they can be drawn clockwise or counterclockwise or with fixed radius fixed length fixed start angle or fixed sweep angle
