when working with 2d objects you can easily trim portions of objects using the trim tool you can use this tool on most 2d planar objects including lines arcs rectangles circles polygons and polylines the trim tool has two modes to determine how the objects will be trimmed regardless of what mode you choose trimming will only work on intersecting coplanar objects if the objects are on different planes you will not be able to trim them this way the first mode all objects mode will trim the object to all intersecting coplanar objects regardless of current selection this means it will trim to any object that intersects the current object if you wish to specify exactly what objects affect the trim you will want to use the second mode currently selected objects mode will trim the object only to intersecting coplanar objects that are selected to use the tool click on the trim tool from the basic palette you will notice your cursor icon change into a hand click the desired tool mode from the toolbar position the cursor over the object to be trimmed it will highlight in red you can only trim one object at a time with this tool click on the portion of the object you wish to trim the object will be trimmed to all intersecting coplanar objects or only to select it intersecting coplanar objects if you use the second mode it can continue trimming by clicking on new portions of the objects this tool offers an effective way to quickly manipulate drawings without much effort you can change the shape of many objects without having to manually add or modify vertices which can be very time-consuming

Thanks for your comment Betsy Boyt, have a nice day.
