welcome to the session in this session you will be learning about what are the shortcut keys available in CATIA and how to customize the keys for particular comment let's see let's open gate here so this is Katia with no workbench open and just focus whatever you choose let's open the file so under file we have new so that in the left side we have the items and the right side we can see the some short key symbols so ctrl + ctrl + n it means it will even use the keyboard shortcut the new file will be open just escape let me press ctrl and then n so first to do that we have to open the Start menu to open the Start menu you can directly use ctrl s sorry we have to go alt s so when you press alt s it will go to the Start menu so to move to file so you can use alt F so it will go to so alt button this for the main menu from that we want to go inside so now it's directly in the new either we can just click enter so just click enter so it will go for new new item so whatever we want we can pick it just click OK and we are into the new part design so let's go to file and same way ctrl o is open and then save ctrl s control piece for print print these are the common ms shortcuts and so you can just explore what are the things available in the katia so ii can avoid the mouse movement and you can just play with the keyboard so there are many items so now let's see how to what are the frequently options we are using while designing most of the time we'll be hiding the components and swapping from visible to non visible workspace so how to customize such kind of button with a keyboard so let's go to tools customized so we have one more window so we not going to check with user workbench toolbar command so now in the command we can just check all command so now the right side all the comments are listing it so you can see all the command so we can pick any one command and we can assign some shortcut buttons so here we have show property and let's show the property so it expands and we couldn't see that what is the title so now it is nothing is there so here we couldn't see anything just put deep back so title is back that user alias is not assigned so we can assign our own keys for this so for instance we are interested in hide and show or just to hide or swaggins this P type H so we can just so this is the button miss fact when we are was and working on the complicated shape frequently we all to shap a fact the workbench so instead of clicking each time we can use the shortcut keys so now you can see title has come hide and show and then use the earliest so we have to select what we want to give so you can give the name littles now what is the axe later you want to give so you can use the default control shift or art or something else you want to use I want to go use other let me bring this window so I am unable to move it up so you can see there is a backspace tab clear enter so usually a spacebar is used for high-tech components or you can swap it so so I want to assign spacebar for this particular item so I am just pressing the s button so space has come so I had this so space has come click OK so space is given for hide and show I think space you usually use to hide the elements not be hiding show so let me change this let me clear this let me try again with this H I think on it all I know so hide in 3d so let's use this hide in 3d and so here the X letter is not provided it is in grey in color so we cannot use let's go with hide and show and we'll assign functional keys so I want to use f5 or f4 for this and we go so you can just use f so you can get the functional keys so it's all a user practice whatever you want you can assign any keys so let's try 4 F 4 F 4 is added and then close it so f 4 is given to hide and show it means it will hide and show so I won't select this and press the f4 button it went to no show more so I want to swap the workbench app visible space and again pick the elements what you want and press f4 in gedit so you can just select all items and this give f4 we can see the elements are selected and it's wrap so this is how we can customize whatever the shortcut shortcut we wanted so we can make use of this and recommend ensure that you are in the ultimate so you will not be missing out me so you will get all the items here you will get it and out of this which are the items you are frequently using so you can make the shortcuts and it will reduce your time and we can improve our design output this is all about keyboard customization in Katia buffet I hope this session gives you clarity how to customize the button for any tools thank you

hello my name is Mark with brand 3d and often a question that I get from new CATIA users is how can we perform keyboard shortcuts to be able to run different commands because CATIA is icon driven there's lots of different buttons found all over the place and once you learn what those icons are it can be very quick to run those functions but without knowing where they're at or sometimes knowing a keyboard shortcut can often improve your efficiency so one method is if you right-click on anything in the model for example here we've got a model with lots of data that's currently visible if I was to go down to the geometrical set data and I want to hide that one quick way of doing that is when I right-click on a feature notice that every single word in that drop-down list has at least one letter underlined the center graph has e reframe on has our hide show has H so if I just right-click on something and hit H on my keyboard it performs the hide show and hides that function so I can rather quickly right-click H right-click H right-click H and hide everything I'm right-clicking on now if you want to be able to speed that up even more you can go to tools hide and say hide everything of a specific type so if I want to say hi all points it hides that function now notice tools has an underline as well now hitting T doesn't do anything for us but if you hold alt and T it does bring down those main menu drop-down lists from here I could hit hide H and I can say I want to hide all planes so I'm gonna hit P it automatically performs that function now I arguably not any faster to go through all of that but alt I brings down the insert menu alt F brings down the view menu so you've got some shortcuts there now you'll notice that if I go to one of those functions some of these different commands have a command over here so ctrl + n is new control + o is open control s control P those are the ones like control C is copy control V is paste some of the more common window commands if you want to be able to customize those shortcuts even more the way to do that go to tools and select Customize now within this customized window we can set up all kinds of different things but we're looking for commands and there's different categories for commands so we can go to file and see some of the default ones like new and exit and so on but what I like to do is go down here to all commands and this gives me a list of all the different functions that are within j'tia as long as you have license to be able to perform that command they'll be in this list now I'm gonna scroll all the way down to the bottom and there's a command here called zoom area now Sumeria doesn't have a shortcut and it doesn't even have a button actually in default CATIA but what it allows you to do is lets you draw a rectangle over a specific area and zoom in on that area now if I click on show properties it gives me the option to be able to give it an accelerator and a shortcut so this shortcuts going to include ctrl + C now I know the control C's already in use ctrl C is copy if I try to leave it that way and hit close lets me know ctrl C is already in use by copy and if I needed to use that for the zoom area I would need to go find copy in this list remove the ctrl C from it's accelerator and then it would be open to use somewhere else now let's use something that isn't currently being used so control arm okay with that I'm gonna hit close now if I hit ctrl + R draw a rectangle over a specific area it's already performing that function there's no button for it so that's right now one of two ways they can get to it I can either get to it that way or I can go to view zoom area and notice ctrl R is now written off the side of it to be able to say I can perform that now as an added note if you wanted to give this a command and you wanted to add it to a toolbar what we can do is go to tools customize go back to commands I'll say all commands the very bottom is zoom area show properties now control are still there but I'm gonna give an icon now you can either you can click the triple dots here to be able to grab a specific icon and there's only 185 pages of these so however many you want to be able to choose here there's all kinds options let's say that zoom areas we're gonna use this icon right here okay it shows kind of a little window that you're drawing over once you've given an icon if we want to add this to a toolbar if you click on its name zoom area drag it out here into your workbench if you hover over a toolbar and see that little rectangle there a little grayed out rectangle it will allow us to place it on that toolbar there are some toolbars where it doesn't allow us to place it and if that's the case it puts this little circle with a line through it and we can't place it there but if I find toolbar that I want to place this on say right there it adds the new function now I can either hit ctrl R which will do zoom area or I can just select the button draw the rectangle over the region that I want it zooms in on that and it works for most other commands as well there are a few that it doesn't allow us to give us an accelerator but most commands and CATIA will allow us to do that hope you find that beneficial have a great day

Thanks Lonny your participation is very much appreciated
