video in these last series this is going to be kind of creating a little bit of landscape so given some land around your house it doesn't look like it's floating in the in the world so to do this we are going to go to our site plan every one should have a site plan it's just something that's standard in there and in our site plan what we are going to do is we're gonna go to the visibility graphics and override and one thing you're going to want to do before we start anything is you don't want to turn on doors the only reason for that is we want the garage door and we want the front door outside of that you can turn off other things to kind of help you out of the way so what we're gonna do is in the tabs up here we're gonna go to one that's called massing and site and we're gonna select a topo surface and in the topo surface what we want to do is we want to select the outsides of our entire house and then kind of four points are rounded so in the place point what I'm going to do is I'm going to just start in the upper left and I'm going to go around before I do that what I'm gonna do is I'm going to set the elevation to be negative ten inches the reason for that is I don't want to push it right up underneath the door one actually generally your your your subfloor or your flooring that your actual like floor that is underneath your doors underneath everything underneath your finished floor the ground comes right up underneath that so you're gonna set it to negative ten inches and then absolute elevation that's fine and we're gonna do is just going to go ahead and you're gonna click all the corners you want to make sure you're clicking the corners of the foundation walls of the house so I can have to zoom in here to get the correct corners all right so I've got all the way around might look a little funky like this and then what I'm going to do is I'm just gonna add about four points out here when I do that I'm gonna go ahead and hit okay and I'm gonna go to 3d view and I'm gonna see what I have so I kind of have some barren land first thing I'll do is I'm just gonna select this barren land and under material I will select this little material button and I'm going to search for grass now grass comes up for me I already loaded it but if it does not come up for you just click this little show highs library panel and add it into your project so I'm gonna select this to be grass and there we go and kinda have a nice green color now what we need to do is we need to create a few sub regions one's going to be for the driveway essentially and the other one might be a little sidewalk go into that front door so to do this I'm gonna go back into site I'm going to go to sub region and I'm going to create a sub region outside of this and you can see you can actually snap to this surface so first I'll just kind of create my driveway and I want my drive would be a little bit bigger than where my garage door is so I kind of start right on the wall and this is a foundation we'll see yeah be careful so I start right on the wall and I'm just gonna drag that down to here grab another line go from somewhere over here drag that all the way down and I think I didn't get right on that wall so I'm gonna put it right back on that wall and I just need to close this region so there's that region from here to here might be a pretty long driveway that's that's okay so there we go we gotta have our long driveway I'm going to go ahead and hit okay and this time for the material you can think about okay you might have an asphalt driveway you might have a concrete driveway there's a lot of different things that you can do so we can have cast in place let's see what else we have here exposed aggregate we don't want room finish yeah we might want some broom finish let's try it and see what that looks like so I'm going to add a little broom to it and let's take a look at what we have okay so we kind of have our concrete driveway a little bit of room finish on there and now I'm just going to make it kind of a concrete path to go into my door so again I will go back to my site plan I'm going to create a nother sub region and this time I'm going to kind of just draw out an area from here to here I'll do the same over here from here to here and I might just switch this up a little kind of make it look even what I'm gonna also do is I'm gonna give it a little bit more of a nice look by creating what's called a filler arc so I'm going to create a filler arc between here and here and then I'm gonna set that radius to be two inches and you can just click again and you can do them the other side as well so about two inch radius comes around I'm gonna select ok it says that there's a little bit of a gap here so I'm gonna go find that gap and just close it all right let's try it again there we go I'm gonna select the little category I'm gonna go a concrete we're gonna do that broom finish again and let's take a look at our house again alright so there we go you know come Park in the driveway you can get out and you can walk around it's not the greatest-looking thing but there is something there to use finally what you might want to do is maybe spice up your hops a little bit or the land around it and you can do that with a sight component so like I said back in the massing in site you can click site component and you can bring in or load different things so for example where I found this was alright where I found this was planting so you can actually go into planting and you can add a whole bunch of different tropical trees conifers deciduous fall trees maybe some other tropical trees these are tropical plants and you can add a whole bunch in if you like so for example I have the I have a shrub and the shrub I picked was a lilac and I could say I'm gonna add just a few of those to the kind of the side of my garage here so I can just go ahead and place a few trees down and this does take a little bit of computing power so right now my putting those in there actually it does slow down my laptop quite a bit we shouldn't have too much of a problem with the computers in 105 or 106 or 109 but you can place a few trees there we could place another larger tree so for example let's get out of the shrub area you can see all the different shrubs we have here we can go to about American birch let's see here or what is this American beech tree I could put a tree on here so I can let you go a lot further with that you can put bushes in the front you can put other trees around there but kind of think about what you would want it to look like someone drives up you don't launch it a bunch of random plans hanging around there I'd probably put another lilac over here maybe make three lilacs maybe some bushes right here next to the door to do a few different things so there is kind of a tutorial on creating your landscape very quickly landscape with some trees driveway and a little concrete path going up to your front door

hey guys this is the Balkan architect and in today's tutorial we're going to be modeling a site plan in Revit so in this video I'm going to be using the toposurface tool to create an uneven topo surface with a bunch of different heights and on this uneven topo surface I'm going to be placing a road with a sidewalk and a realistic-looking curb but before you get started I would just like to ask you to like this tutorial it helps me out a lot and if you haven't already I suggest you subscribe because they make videos like this every day so let's get started here I have this just a blank house placed over here and here I have just some parking area in front of it and we're going to be placing a road over here so let's just go to site plan to model our site so I'm going to go here to massing and site tab and you have this topo surface tool and I'm going to select it and now our house is on level one which is zero point zero zero so we're going to be starting from that so I'm just going to go here for elevation and let's just leave it at zero and I'm going to place one point here one point here and then I'm just going to kind of place points around the house like so maybe one more here and here okay so we kind of have an even doubt surface for our house now I'm going to type in minus three meters for this part over here so I'm just going to place a bunch of points over here and then let's do the same thing over here a few points like that and then let's go to minus six meters for perhaps something over here and let's just move this out a bit okay and if you want to see more of these lines that are actually showing you the difference in Heights we need to go finish you can go here to model site open up this site settings dialog and here it's set to five meters so we have one of these indicator lines once every five meters but we can change this to something lower so let's do it one meter so now it looks kind of more realistic for a site plan now let's go into 3d to see what it looks like and I'm quite happy with this and now the first thing we need to do we need to create a building pad that's this over here so you're just go building pad and then again I'm going to go back into site plan and here you can see we can't really see the walls because we have our roof over it so I'm just going to go here and go into wireframe graphic display option and now we can see it and now I'm just going to be using this big clients tool or perhaps something even faster for a situation like this is a rectangle so you place one rectangle here one here a couple of lines here and then just use the split tool for this and the trim and extend tool to connect everything so once that's done just go finish and now this is your building pad now let's model the road but before we start cutting out our toposurface to place a road we need to kind of draw it out or plot it out to see where well the actual road go so let's say we want our road to go kind of like this in an u-turn and to do that let's go here into annotation and let's use detail lines so you can go here to detail line or you can use the shortcut DL and now you can place detail lines so I'm just going to place one line like so maybe like that and kind of exiting like this now again I'm going to go into detail line use the offset tool and let's offset by I don't know four meters I know that's a bit small for a car but or for two cars but that doesn't matter for this video and now again in detail line let's use this fill at arc tool to fill out this - I don't know six meters is the radius as far as I remember and for this let's do ten because that's six plus four and here let's do something like 10 okay and let's do the 14 for this one okay this looks like a realistic road realistic enough at least so now let's cut out our surface to create this actual road so to do that I'm going to go here to masking insight and now go to split surface so once I select this I need to select the surface I'm going to be splitting so I'm going to select this one and now I need to create my road so I can use the pipeline's tool for that and let's just pick these lines that we have already placed now you can see why the benefits of placing the these detail lines and now just by using trim and extend let's extend this and you can leave this open that just means that you're cutting the surface in two surfaces basically and you when you finish you can select this and this road is now a different surface as you can see now let's do the actual sidewalk and for that let's go back into site plan and go into split surface again select this surface because we're splitting it again and now I want my sidewalk to go all the way around the house and the [ __ ] to follow this road over here so I'm just going to use the PICC lines tool to select the road again then go all the way around this parking lot all the way around the house and then all the way back now once this is finished you can go into offset and set an offset to one meter that's fine for a sidewalk for a small house and then let's do the sidewalk on this side and on this side as well so when you're kind of placed it like this yeah you can do it like that do this line okay this is enough now we can split this line here in half and now let's just trim and extend everything in place and because this inner surface is already cut off now we can just delete these lines because we don't really need them we don't need these inside lines so once you have this you just go finish and you can see now if we select it we have our curve over here so if I go into 3d let's just cancel out of this I can either either select the road or my curve okay so once this is completed we need to do some adjustments we want this curve to have some thickness and we want it to go up a bit we want to extend it kind of up to be poking out of the surface and how are we going to do that first I'm not going to be using this surface just like this as a surface I need to turn it into 3d and the easiest way to turn it into 3d is to select it go here into Revit or this Start menu and go into export and export it as DWG but you just want to export this curve so what you're going to do is you're going to select it go here and isolate it so just go isolate element and get something that looks like this we don't really need this either so let's hide element yes so we only have our curb selected so now once this is only selected or visible you go here to export and export it into CAD so go DWG next let's save it at desktop let's just leave the name go okay and go leave temporary hide isolate so once this is done you can just kind of leave it in temporary hide isolate and you need to create an in-place mass now once you've created a new mass just go escape let's call it mass one now you're going to import your DWG here so you're just going to go to insert import CAD select this project and here it is now the reason why you've done this is because now this CAD insert is actually selectable and we can select it as a mass surface so what we can do now is go finish mass this warning is completely unimportant we can use this m
