you are watching TFI indeed held to install vogue basic 2020 but going all the way through start/finish from downloading the files all the way through to configuring Autodesk Inventor to connect to the vault so a few assumptions are gonna be made here first off is that you're gonna be a home user working on your own all in a very small office with a couple of other people at max there's no servers involved here it's all worked on a Windows 10 desktop operating system and we're coming from a standpoint of configuring it with Autodesk Inventor 2020 right so let's get cracking now you need to get the download files mate so I don't know where you're gonna get them from if you're a genuine customer or if you download them off the torrents I don't know either way I'm assuming you're a proper customer if you are you've got to go over to your Autodesk account which is manager odesk.com sign in go to the product that you get vault basic with so for example invited professional click view downloads and then you'll see in here vault basic client Bob basic server make sure that's at 20:20 and then switch the download method to browse the download and then click and then click and then that would start a download to executables once they're downloaded you'll see these two files here vbc that's vault basic client 20 20 VBS vault basic server 20 20 you want to double click each one of these one at a time click OK and then it'll extract it at this directory here C or a desk just leave that as default once it's finished extracting the first one double click the next one once it's all done head on over to C or a desk and you'll have two folders of the same name TBC 2020 and VBS 2020 and inside here are the installation files which we'll come back to in a short second a couple of other things we need to do for setup it's unavoidable mates vault has to be set up properly so gotta go over the task manager and then go to performance and then just make a node just take a mental note of how many cores the system has that you've got so I've got 4 next up go over to the control panel of your computer right so you want to go to control panel go to uninstall a program' and then click turn Windows Features on or off up here at the left and you want to just expand this box a little bit and we need to enable some windows features which you probably don't have enabled at the moment I've got them already installed so you just gonna have to copy the tick boxes that I've got ticked underneath dotnet framework 4.7 so take us at 4.7 and I don't think we need any of those then you want to go down there Internet Information Services this one here expand that going to web management tools and then you want to take all of these boxes that I've got ticked here I just copy that underneath World Wide Web Services right just copy all of these ticking boxes here copy those copy that copy that and then copy that this is also assuming that you don't have anything else in your system that requires iis if that's the case don't untick any boxes that you've already got ticked just copy the Tiggy boxes that i've got and then click OK and let's start with install those features it might ask you for Windows Media if that's the case can't help you there but you'll have to go and get your USB stick or whatever it is he used to install Windows 10 with or redownload it from the the Microsoft web site right once those features are installed you want to go back on over to your file explorer Windows Explorer whatever you want to call it my computer and then you want to go to your C Drive and I'm I'm installing all of the vault components everything that vault needs to the C Drive now in most cases in a corporate environment for example I would normally install the vault components to a separate Drive like the D Drive or the II drive but I can't assume that everyone's got that so we're just gonna keep everything on the C Drive and then we're gonna create a new folder and I'm gonna call this vault data and then I'm gonna right click on that and go to properties this is completely optional but it's it could save your bacon in the future go to customize change icon and then scroll to the right and find the icon that looks like a little no entry sign that one there just click OK and then ok or not and that just Flags the folder with a little picture that it's like a mental note to say don't ever touch this folder in the future don't delete it right and we'll click new folder again and then type in dollar working folder with capital W capital F and then go save again right click on that go to properties go to customize change icon and then just change that a little hard disk symbol something like that once that's done now we're gonna call it the vault data folder and I'm going to create two new folders one of them is going to be called vault SQL click return and then you fold it and I'm gonna call this file stores once that's done we're going to go over to the C Drive C or a desk and then into VBS 20/20 go into third party go into sq 2017 Express Advanced x64 setup.exe right-click on that and run as administrator so this is going to install 2017 Express but we're doing it separately so you want to click the installation link on the left click new SQL Server standalone installation click that hyperlink then I'll start the installation was it for SQL server click accept the license terms click Next it'll run a few checks everything should be fine it should give you a warning about having a Windows Firewall enable probably which reminds me actually before we go any further disable any antivirus software that you've got going so for example I've got BitDefender installed on this system just go into whatever it is that you use and then uncheck anything that's threat detection run samaya remediation anything like that leave the firewall and that's not gonna interfere with anything and take vulnerability and then just turn off the antivirus until system restart for example for me I just so it doesn't block anything once that's done click Next and then we're gonna start to configure the SQL instance so this is very specific to vault Oni 20 because it comes with a unique version of SQL Server which won't be the same as previous versions if you're following along in a previous version but we're gonna uncheck machine learning services we don't need that all we need is the full text techie box and SQL Server application budget to be honest but don't need that either but it does install that by default so we're just gonna leave that tech leave all these ticked as well at the bottom where it says instance root directory click the three little dots here and then you want to change this folder to the vault data folder that will create before so we're gonna expand vault data and then select vault SQL and then click OK and then click Next right so these bits are really important right for the named instance you want to delete that turn on caps lock and you want to type in Autodesk vault all uppercase all one word press tab on the keyboard and it should change the instance ID automatically toward s vault and then clic
