hi guys welcome back in today's video what we're going to do is go over how to make custom text in tinkercad i guess you could guess that from the title of the video to do that we're going to need a couple of different resources first we're going to need a source for fonts and then we're going to use here to generate our svgs so for our font i like to go to they're open source fonts and you can use them freely on whatever you'd like so we'll go through and we'll just choose one how about sign tactical here i think that looks pretty interesting we'll click on it and we'll click download family here and we'll save the file once that's opened or once that's done we'll open up the file and we'll extract all the files now that we have our file extracted and everything downloaded and extracted rather we'll go over to uh i'll put the link down in the description it's forward slash tools forward slash web font dash generator alternatively you can just go to and click the generator here next what we'll need to do is we'll need to upload the font so to do that we're going to have to find it in our downloads it was signed tactical so we'll go ahead and we'll find the dot ttf file it'll have a logo like this if you're in windows we'll upload that and whenever you first go onto the website it'll look like this we'll want to click over to the expert mode and the only thing we want is the svg format here everything else we can leave the same you're going to need to click on this agreement yes the fonts i'm uploading are legally available for web web embedding basically we're using open source fonts so we should be all fine and then we'll click download your kit it'll take a minute to process it and once it's done processing we'll go ahead and download it okay it's done processing so we'll save the file we'll open up our download we'll extract all again and press extract i'm just extracting them straight to my downloads folder we'll go back over into tinkercad and we'll want to go to shape generators all and then on page two there is a custom text or custom font text uh object we'll bring that over and here it says drag a file or choose one i like to just click on choose one and we'll find where we downloaded our file or where we extracted our file at and we said that was sign tactical and then oh sorry we're gonna have to find the web font kit one sorry this is my newest one so this will be it and we'll want to find sign tactical regularwebfont.svg it'll always be the svg uh file extension that you'll want to open up in tinkercad because that's what it supports yours might not be called sign tactical it'll probably be called whatever your text is called once we've done that we now have a text object with a custom text let's go ahead and get rid of the other ones so we can just we got our new text we can just type in whatever we want so for instance we can type in uh epiphany printing and there we go we can adjust our size um our extrusion height go let's make this a nice bright color to see and we have our custom text here anyways guys that's all there is to it um hope you guys enjoyed the video if you have any questions or comments go ahead and leave them down in the comment section uh if you enjoyed this video please give me a like subscribe ring the bell you know all that stuff it helps out the channel a lot thank you guys have a great day

okay hey everyone its Jeff and today I'm gonna show you how to make custom fonts in Tinkercad so you can make cool family signs like this or is this alright so stay tuned isn't that awesome that is for your bedrooms or your family room in your house or camping your trailers or whatever they gonna do a couple different ones so this is a Disney font and it's for my family and my wife's a huge Disney found as you guys know so I made her name and what I'm gonna do is my two boys one of them is a Harry Potter fan and the other one plays video games he's a fallout 4 fan myself well you'll see alright okay so the suites on Jeff's corner we're going to show you how to create import custom fonts into Tinkercad and then mix of signs and then we're gonna print those up alright alright let's get started what I'm gonna do is show you how to get the font so we're gonna go to the font combo you have to excuse me I don't have a video capture so we're doing this old-school with the camera okay so it's gonna go you're gonna go to the website da fonts calm so da fo and T calm and here they have a whole bunch of various different fonts constantly uploaded and always there's new stuff kicking around this is just the brand new one so they're in here there's other ones I see alien here that looks kind of cool let's have a look at that so yeah aliens alien crypt aliens aliens so yeah lots of cool stuff anyways I'm going down a rabbit trail here so let's go with Harry Potter so we will search on Harry Potter and we will find the font so this is the character font this is the regular word font this is what I'm looking for and it gives you a preview of all the letters all the numbers all the symbols or anything to do we're going to download it I'm gonna save the file once it's downloaded you're gonna go into your file folder and what you want to do is go to where you downloaded it from I'm just going to extract to here and then I'm gonna find my file which is probably all the way at the bottom right there alright so you're looking actually for the TrueType font file which is right there so once you have that you're gonna go to a different website and this website is gonna be called it is font squirrel when you get in there excuse me the font squirrel website is gonna take you right here and it's fo and T s qu IR arielle and of course my antivirus is coming up isn't that great let's just close that out of here right now we're gonna free antivirus because it pops up all the time that's word for the Y's okay you're gonna go into generator once you're in generator you're gonna click on the upload fonts button and you are gonna go find your Harry Potter which is this one right here the TrueType font file you're gonna click on that you're gonna open it that's gonna upload this then you're gonna go into expert mode and you're gonna export it as an SVG file so you're gonna click on that and remove these two so you just want the SVG file ya scroll all the way to the bottom and you're gonna click on yes the fonts I'm uploading the agreement and you're going to download your kit I'll take a second now my son has a bearded dragon and I'm sure you can hear the rogue cricket that we have in the background so if anybody knows how to catch a rogue cricket please comment in the comment section alright cuz I think drives me crazy when I'm down here okay so now what we've done is we've downloaded our new font sets so we're gonna go look for that and that's our webs if so we're gonna go back into our downloads let's roll Oh to the top and where it's the web fonts we're gonna unzip that right to wherever you want as long as you know where it is that's cool mine always unzip at the bottom here so we're gonna go down here and we're gonna look for it should have the SVG document which is right there that's the file we need the SVG document there so what we're gonna do with this is we're gonna go into Tinkercad the ticker cats a great little tad program that's free that's on the Internet everything's on the Internet right the Internet's wonderful if you haven't heard about the internet you should really try it out it's great okay you're gonna go to Tinkercad comm and you're gonna open an account okay once you open the account you'll be able to create things it will take you to the create my design page okay there's lots of tutorials on the web on how to deal with Tinkercad I can do a beginner tutorial later but for now I just want to show you real quick how to do this so once you're in and you've set yourself up with an account and you're starting to tinker or you're gonna go is where it says basic shapes here you're actually gonna go down and get it down and you're gonna go find the shape generator and you're gonna go to all okay and you're gonna scroll down I think it's on page two or three you're gonna look for the text okay the regular text custom font and text is what you're looking for you do is gonna pull that over onto your build plate this would be your build plate here and you see where it says drag file here that's what you're gonna do you're gonna grab that open up that Harry P web font the SVG document you're gonna drag it right in that window and that's it you now have your Harry Potter text which is perfect so my son's name is Logan so what I'm gonna do is I shall give it capitals let's do it capitals and small and see I like that I like that more all right so that's how you bring in a custom font into Tinkercad it's as easy as one two three we'll review step 1 you're gonna go to whatever font page you like to go to mine's you're gonna search for your font and download it once you download it you're gonna go to font squirrel comm under the generator and you're gonna upload it you're gonna click on expert mode you're gonna click on SVG you're going to take away every other checkmark in this area then you're gonna click the agreement and download it what you download you're gonna look for the SVG file and you're gonna go to your shape generator all and find your custom font text which is on page 2 pull that over and in this place where it says picture you're gonna drag your SVG document in there and it will give you your custom font just nice and easy alright so let's do this again um let's try the small letters since you're here with hello ga and that's my son that's my youngest he likes Harry Potter so I actually like that what I will do is when I print this I actually want it all joined together I don't want it all separate so what I'll do is I will just go to basic shapes and I'll just take a square we will stretch out the length of that I'll bring it down three mils and then we'll drop it down oh that was the wrong one this is raising and lowering it I want this at zero so I'm just gonna taser on the window that will make it easier that just means it's level tilt that this is what I want here and I look really professional don't I right now it's this right here okay we're gonna make that 10 mils just like these are 10 mils and you can always double check that that will just bring the Oh Lord all right that's a good thing that they have the backup button n
