How to import reference image into cinema 4d

Comment by Corey Mcinturf

hello everyone hope you find yourself having a great day this is going to be a quick down and dirty illustration of how to set up a background reference image you might want to set up a background reference image to help facilitate being accurate in your modeling in any case let's get started we'll need to move into our front viewport it's important that you do this if you're not in your front viewport some of the settings that you'll need won't be available to you so once you're in your front viewport come up top under options and then select configure at this point make sure that you have under your viewport options selected the back tab back in regards to use a background image you're going to use we're going to browse and select the background image that we're going to use click open and at this point it's been placed in our viewport for reference and you might use this in the future in regards to placing splines to drawing to get an accurate representation of the model that you're going to be working with sometimes it's nice to increase its transparency so that you'll be able to still see the reference image however in the event that you're drawing splines for example if I'm drawing splines on here I'll still be able to see those compared to if I were to look at this with less transparency it makes it a little bit more difficult to see so you can play with that by coming in and out of your viewport settings under your background options and increasing or decreasing that transparency to suit your needs alright guys that was another quick down and dirty example of something that might help make your life a little bit easier in regards to cinema 4d hope you like it if you like my channel please subscribe comment and rate alright talk to you later bye

i wanted to show you a little trick if you want to use a reference image um when kind of like creating some geometry inside of cinema 4d so i kind of went on to um google and i just sort of because i want to make a lava lamp and i could you know i can make it by eye but sometimes it's nice to use a reference image so i literally just grabbed any reference image off of google and then i'm going to build this again in my front view so i'm going to enlarge my front view and what we can do i'll just get in on there we can go to options and configure or you can press shift v um which will take you to the shortcut version so if i hit configure so by default you'll come up and it will look like this and inside here we can you know change a whole bunch of things whole bunch of you know effects and you know our safe frames which are like the greater area so you know where you're rendering but we also have this back option and this back option allows us to load an image on sort of like the back plate of this um front view so if i just hit my three dots my lava lamp ref if i open that we now have this uh as a reference image inside of our um just the like the back plate of our front view so you know if we go back to our perspective it's it's not there so it's not going to get in the way and then what we can do i can adjust the size and that's the reason i left the shelf um visible is so i can kind of decide what a suitable size would be

Thanks anfressenK your participation is very much appreciated
