How to import image in archicad

Comment by Rebecka Vetrano

hey what's up guys welcome back or welcome to the channel this is your first time we're going to import files into archicad and resize them so we're going to start off with two methods of importing pngs or pdfs and archicad and the first one is to simply just go file external content place external drawing and you just select whichever file you need to import and then you select what you want that bottom left corner to be and there you go now that's pretty straightforward but there's actually a shortcut method which is the second option when you just open up the folder and click and drag and drop now that's super simple process and what's really neat about this too is like with pdfs when you have multiple pages if you drag and drop it it'll actually ask you what page you want to import so that's super helpful because it means you don't have to isolate pages before you do this process so we're going to put this guy in there and there you go so that's really quick uh the problem that you will find is that if you want to resize these there's different ways you can do it and if you choose the wrong way you can get quite stuck so the way that most people would just revolt to is selecting one of the bottom corner nodes and just using the resize or the stretch tool and that's okay that can work but it can get a bit finicky now this drawing is actually the scale so i'm going to get the same plan and import it but this one is out of whack so this is a lot larger than what it should be and we want to rescale this and move it accurately and quickly so you can either scroll down to just a point that you know what the dimension should be or preferably just use a dimension and you can use the shortcut ctrl k or if you're on a mac command k or alternatively just go edit reshape resize now if you know or if you prefer to use ratios and percentages you can resize it that way or you can use the more common or the way that i've seen used more commonly which is defined graphically where you just select two points so we'll select the two points of this dimension currently sitting at 4 247 millimeters quite a bit larger than what it should be we'll type in the true measurement of what it should be and there you go so if we just use a measure tool i'm just going to do a little sketch job here you can see it's sitting out now pretty close now you'll be you'll take a bit more time with it you'll get it right um and that will allow you to get on with whatever you're working on so hopefully that helps answer your questions on how to import pngs jpegs pdfs into archicad and then resize them it's pretty simple it's pretty easy and i wish you all the best and hope that this allows you guys to spend more time creating and less time crying see in the next video guys you
