welcome to the demo on a laker free physical viewer using a laker free physical viewer you can open view and plot databases without any license to get started with a new free physical viewer download the application from the electro downloads page on cadence.com if you are a returning user you'll notice that the new user interface has an optimized workflow and you can review your designs with maximum efficiency in the redesigned free viewer all pings are display and you do not need to switch between panes while reviewing your design you can quickly filter search change the visibility and color assignments of any design object or layer to see the complete power of the free viewer let's open a sample board design shipped with this application as soon as the design is loaded all the panes are populated with design specific data that includes layers and objects information all the active tabs filters and hyperlinks are displayed in the blue the current state of visibility and color assignment for each database object is displayed in the visibility pane notice that the search field is empty and the search window displays total count of all the components nets pins traces shapes and vias that are used in the design when nothing is selected in the design canvas the properties pane displays the status of the design along with design parameters and grid settings selecting an object on the canvas brings up its properties to clear the selection click anywhere in the blank space you can also view the constraints applied to an object in the properties pane let's select a net and open the constraints section of the properties pane to view its constraints in the selection filter you can select specific objects say pins you will now see the properties of the selected pin only to find out what constraints are applied between objects let's select two objects a pin is already selected so let's select avia the only constraint right now between the objects is pin to via spacing let's select the pin again to view its properties property values in blue are links and when clicked act as search strings let's click the pat stack value the free viewer searches for the hyperlink value and lists all the pins that have the same pad stacks and their total count to navigate to an object say a net move to its tab and double-click a row the net 1v2 is highlighted in the design campus let's select another netconference underscore sw2 for verifying its path and properties you can also change the color of this net color coding helps you identify and resolve any issue with the net to do so open the nets tab of the visibility pane expand the net section and locate the conference underscore sw2 net click the color box and choose a color you can also change the highlight pattern the color of the net has changed to improve visibility turn on the shadow mode by pressing the alt key with the alt key you can also measure the distance between two objects press and hold the alt key and select objects you can see that when you select a new object the distance between objects dynamically changes to view the complete design use zoom fit command from the view menu the clear all option in the nets tab restores to original color assignments the color applied to a parent net will also be applied to its children let's select the match group and change its color you can see the member nets inherit the color from the match group all the member nets of this group are on an inner signal layer only to look at them closely you can hide the other layers from the layers section here in the layers section the design layers you see currently are from the primary stack up this sample design has both rigid and flex areas you can choose a different stack up to review you can reset the visibility of all the database objects on all the layers to control the display use the toggle icon to change the visibility of individual objects and layers for convenience a header level toggle option is also available changing the layer color is now a single click operation you can see the gnd layer color changes to red from green to refine the design canvas use layer filters you can identify a layer type just by looking at the icons in the last column when focusing on design objects the objects and area subsection is useful from here you can filter both objects and layers the color box in this section acts as a toggle and controls the visibility of an object on a layer different colored boxes represent different states of visibilities solid color box indicates an object is visible on that layer hollow box with colored outline indicates that object is not visible on that layer hollow box with gray outline indicates that object is not visible on all the layers and have different colors assigned to each layer solid gray box indicates that object is visible on all layers with different or the same colors are assigned to object on each layer to change the color of a pin via or any other object right click and choose another color from the color palette sometimes you may want to see keep in areas or place bound region of components you can select them in the geometries subsection and set their visibility the color of any geometry can also be changed the same way as we did for the layers and nets if your design has user-defined subclasses they are listed in the last section in the general tab you can set the graphic settings at the design level you can choose to view unfilled pads to improve display performance similarly you can control on-screen display of net labels or adjust the opacity of the traces that brings us to the end of this demo you can see that locating design objects and reviewing designs is now much easier hi my name is robert veranek and in this video you are going to design a board in cadence orcad and allegro software even if you have never ever designed any board before when you follow this tutorial step by step then by the end of this video you will design this board and you will know how to use or cut an allegro for your own projects in this tutorial you will learn how to draw schematic in or cut you will learn how to create schematic symbols in schematic symbol library so this will help you to create any symbol which you may ever need in your schematic you will learn how to create paths and footprints for all the components what you may need in your pcb and of course we are going to create the pcb in cadence allegro so you will learn how to place the components on the board and how to connect them together we are going to also generate all the documents which you need to manufacture this pcb so for example you will know how to generate gerber files you will also know how to generate all the kind of different documentation for example assembly drawing and also bomb below material which you will need when you will be building your board so let's start we are going to start our card click on start button find cadence capture cs and select the license which you have left click ok click on file new project i'm going to call it light youtube and i'm going to save it here select folder okay go inside of this dsn schematic i'm going to rename schematic page right click rename i'm going to call it let okay and i'm going to rename also this right click rename and i'm going to call it let project okay select library click on file new library right click on the new library say this be sure you are going to save it inside of our project directory and i'm going to call it let schematic lip like this save we are going to create our first schematic symbol go to google search for pg key and our first symbol is going to be header 2.54 millimeter click here we would like to use molex here it is in stock with 3d model apply and we need two positions one row board two cable wire through hole apply let's have a look what they have here we can use this one so click here and this is what we are going to use copy the header description just left click here go back to our cut and to create new component in your schematic symbol library just right click on the library and use new part left click we are going to use the header description as the name so right click paste and the pad reference prefix for the for headers or for connectors is usually j press okay when you are creating a symbol you can use these icons which are here or you can use displays menu so click on place and i'm going to place some pins so left click here i'm going to name this pin as plus and this is going to be pin number one so i'm going to use number one here press ok left click left click escape select pin number two and change the name to minus left click into empty space click on place select rectangle left click left click escape and make this outline little bit smaller left click to select it press left button hold it down and move it to zoom in zoom out or use ctrl so press ctrl on your keyboard and then mouse wheel zoom in zoom out i'm going to make it a little bit nicer i'm going to move this value maybe like this and i'm going to move this j maybe like this select the value just left click here and write one x to head there left click into empty space go to dgk copy the par number left click go back to our cut and we are going to add this part number into part properties so let's click here i'm going to call this new property like dot manufacture pn let's click here dot manufacture pn and uh here we are going to place the part number left click ctrl v and left click here this manufacturer part number property will be very useful when we will be creating bomb bill of material for our project you will see later okay let's click into empty space to unselect everything and don't forget to save the library when you have a look inside of our library you will find that this symbol what we have just created okay so this is our header inside right click on the library select new part name is going to be the register description right click paste and the prefix for resistors is r okay in our library we are going to have new symbol resistor symbol and we are going to draw this symbol go to place select pin change the name to one number one press ok left click left click escape zoom in press ctrl and mouse wheel switch off snapping to grid just left click on this button place line and watch the position of my cursor we would like to place the line somewhere in the middle between these snapping points so the last number will be
