It's been a big year for the
construction industry, with the formation of the BIM Library, NBS
Create and more. So it was good to see everyone's hard work praised
in the Construction Computing Awards, affectionately known as the
'Hammers'.
This year saw the sixth outing of the awards, presented by RIBA
Enterprises' Richard Waterhouse. They featured 20 categories that
"reward the technology, tools and solutions for the effective
design, construction, maintenance and modification of commercial
buildings, residential and social housing and civil engineering
projects of all sizes."
On the night, some of the big software winners included Autodesk's
Building Design Suite, which walked away with the Building
Services Product of the Year award, and Vectorworks, which took
home the 'One to watch' gong. We've been watching Nemetschek
Vectorworks 2012 since it was announced, and have been
impressed with how positive the company behind it has been towards
BIM processes. TheBIM and openBIM capabilities within the latest
version of the software have been extensively demoed in free
webinars for beginners, and Vectorworks was also instrumental in
the formation of the National BIM Library, working closely with the
NBS. Keep up the good work in 2012, guys.
