Autodesk have announced support for Windows 7 in nine of their
products, including AutoCAD 2010, AutoCAD LT 2010, AutoCAD
Architecture 2010 and more. Currently, this support does not extend
to other Autodesk products, such as Maya, 3ds Max and Revit.
Wanting to provide support for the widest possible range of
operating systems, Autodesk have worked with Microsoft to make sure
that customers using Windows 7 can get access to the easier and
faster performance features in the 2010 line of products.
Though not all of Autodesk's product range is supported, other
additions are expected to be added to the list as updated versions
of software are released.
One of the key reasons for this move is the powerful new features
offered by Windows 7, including 64-bit computing and multi-touch
support. Currently, Autodesk are working on introducing new
technology that takes advantage of these advancements. Project
Cooper is one example of Autodesk's intentions: a simple drawing
and drafting tool, this will take advantage of the multi-touch
functionality of Windows 7. You can find out more about the project
here.
