Good news for current users of Autodesk's
flagship software, AutoCAD: in October this year, it will be making
its long awaited comeback to the Mac's OS X
platform.
Yesterday, it was announced that Autodesk have decided to
release their now industry standard AutoCAD application on the Mac.
This is the first time that the software has appeared on the Mac
since 1992, in which time there have been 13 releases only
available to Windows users. With over 10 million users worldwide,
there has been increasing demand from users to bring back the Mac
version, which has in turn lead to feverish speculation amongst the
AutoCAD community. Now the speculation can be laid to
rest.
As well as the OS X version, Amar Hanspal, Autodesk senior
vice-president, has announced an iOS application that is designed
for Apple's mobile devices. AutoCAD WS will allow users to download
their drawings from the cloud, view their designs on a portable
device such as an iPhone or iPad and make small adjustments while
on the move.
