Apogee is the latest manufacturer to announce that it
will be developing products based on Intel's Thunderbolt I/O
technology.

Finally revealed late last month (and certainly the biggest news
at Apple's new MacBook Pro launch),
Thunderbolt promises high-speed (10 Gbps) bi-directional data
transfer, based on PCI Express and DisplayPort technology.
There have been ringing endorsements for Thunderbolt throughout
the market with Avid and Universal Audio also getting on board.
Apogee's Director of Marketing, Sean McArthur, echoed many in
others when he forecast huge things for the new technology: "Simply
stated, Intel's Thunderbolt technology on the Mac marks the end of
difficult choices and the beginning of unlimited performance." It's
now simply a matter of when, rather than if, Thunderbolt interfaces
will supersede USB and FireWire.
