Vectorworks Landmark brings leisure complex to life

Healthspan Hotel Group have created a major new health and leisure complex through the refurbishment and development of 2 existing hotels in Fermain Valley in Guernsey. Working in association as consultant horticulturalists, LanDesign Associates master planned, detailed and then oversaw the creation of the associated landscaped grounds incorporating a variety of planting styles, hard landscape finishes and water features.

All presentation and detailed design work was completed using Vectorworks Landmark 12 . The sloping nature of the site provided opportunities to create a series of stepped terraces linked by gently sloping pathways. A 3D ground model was prepared using VectorWorks to enable sections to be quickly and easily generated through the site in order to assess how best to achieve this.

A single masterplan drawing was created. From this, contract documents were generated at various scales and levels of detail using Viewports in combination with classes and Layers to show and hide various levels of information. The use of a single master plan drawing meant that design changes could be easily accommodated, co-ordinated and tracked across all contract documents.

At both planning and constructing phases, there was much use of coloured drawings using various fill patterns to clearly differentiate between various surface finishes, mowing regimes and planting groups.
